Yesterday I was watching the television at night and was casually surfing the channels when I came across a music channel that was playing some of the hits of the King of Pop...Michael Jackson.
No matter how scandalous his past has been, there is no denying the fact that he HAS produced some of the best melodies ever. Be it Black or White, Heal the World, Earth Song, The way you make me feel, etc. these songs definitely have a high affinity with music lovers, across the world. Not only are they great songs to listen to, but they also have very creative visuals to make you want to watch the songs.
Who can forget the absolutely clever use of morphing faces for the video of Black or White or the moving and meaningful video of the Earth song! It's a treat! Even today if I’m simply listening to his songs, the images of the visuals of that song get generated automatically in my mind. I definitely feel that if good music is complemented with equally good visuals, then they have more longevity with music lovers, than otherwise. Agreed, that most people just enjoy listening to music albums and may actually watch its video only once. But even if they see these videos once, the imprint definitely stays with them. And anyways, it just takes one good impression to make an impact, doesn't it?
