The boom of social networking sites has indeed, contracted the whole world such that it can now be accommodated within a comparatively teeny-weeny space of 17”x17”! Now THAT’S what you call ‘Shrinking’!..eh??! Right Mr. Joe Johnston (Director of Honey, I shrunk the Kids!’)?...Or may be Walt Disney would agree on that?!
Today, all you need to do is run a specific person-search in any of these social networking sites and Voila!.... you just might be surprised to find who you’re looking for!
Nifty?...or what?!
The stupendous progress in the technological realm has made possible such wonders that help one bond together with the past, present and in some ways… the future! Restoring contacts with old friends is just a matter of a mouse-click or key-stroke today! Quite unthinkable...a few years back!
The main reason for the success of such a concept like social networking seems to have been, the innate need of us humans to reach out to our past! Our past….that comprises of memories…triggered from experiences…with various individuals from our life…at various points in time! The ‘accessibility’ lent out by such a technological marvel has taken the human world by storm! People from our past ‘memories’ are more ‘accessible’ and ‘findable’ to us…than we really thought! That’s what social networking sites have done for us!
Apart from the past, our present, as well as imminent future, are impacted by such a phenomenon. Today’s professionals look at social networking sites as a ‘ready sea’ of potential opportunities. Building professional or business contacts or setting up an amicable alliance is extremely easy and sought after. A whole new language and medium of inter-personal communication is taking shape, thanks to the advent of social networking sites!
